PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – After the Dippon paper mill implosion four people who were badly burned by the chemical spill are being treated at the brand new Legacy Oregon Burn Center in Portland.
The director of the burn center, Dr. Nik Eshraghi, told FOX 12 these are life changing events. While he can’t give updates on specific patients they are treating, he said chemical burns like the ones he saw in the Longview case can take months to heal. Depending on the severity of the burn, these patients could also require multiple surgeries.
“I felt that process went very well,” Dr. Eshraghi said, “from the first responders on the scene, to the transfer hospital, to the team here, this unfortunate disaster did test our system.”…
