PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland finally got its own version of a “Brooklyn Bridge” during a naming ceremony on Sunday.
In February 2026, the Portland City Council unanimously voted to name the Brooklyn Neighborhood’s bridge between Southeast 17th Avenue and Southeast 26th Avenue the Brooklyn Bridge.
The bridge serves as a link between the east and west sides of the Southeast Portland neighborhood, which also spans the Union Pacific Brooklyn train yard.
“It’s just a lovely bridge. It’s very simple, but very sweet. People think it’s a very modest bridge, which it is. It ties our community together. It provides a great way to get across the train tracks,” said Rion Lyle, an organizer for the event…
