PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A growing debate over data centers was front and center in Hillsboro on Tuesday night as city leaders took a closer look at the incentives helping fuel that growth, from cloud storage to artificial intelligence.
The discussion comes ahead of a state moratorium taking effect on Saturday.
“This is an environmental impact that you’re talking about here,” said Hillsboro resident Paul Klemencic. “The power demand for those data centers is going to explode.”
