PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Much of our food is getting more expensive these days and older adults in our area often face that, as well as isolation. A Vancouver restaurant called The Diner is helping seniors by serving what they call, “Comfort food that makes a difference.”
“It’s gourmet food. It is definitely gourmet,” said Lynn Gaston, a regular customer at The Diner. “And their soup is always sensational. Today, it’s potato.”

Gaston and her good friends are also known as “Table One,” because they were among the very first customers at The Diner when it opened in 2019. Some also refer to them as “The Sisterhood.”
The food is a big reason they’re regulars, with Gaston’s top pick being the BLT.
