PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three years after her son’s murder, Cherish Sawyer returned carrying a hand-painted white cross, not to celebrate a milestone, but to remember her son.
Sawyer placed the memorial on Wednesday night at the downtown Portland intersection where 29-year-old Dominick Sawyer took his last breath.
For his family, the cross serves as both a memorial and a reminder that the case remains unsolved.
