The June 2 homicide in Portland marked the 34th killing in the Hazelwood neighborhood since 2021, more than any other neighborhood in the city.
It was also the neighborhood’s 10th in a five-block radius of East Burnside Street and 122nd Avenue in the same period.
But compared to its population, Hazelwood isn’t quite as violent as those numbers might suggest…
