PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) —A restaurant fire at a Hillsboro shopping center prompted a large emergency response Sunday, but firefighters stopped the blaze before it could spread, and no injuries were reported, officials said.
At 10:30 a.m., Hillsboro Fire and Rescue responded to a Washington County 911 call reporting smoke coming out of a building.
The scene at Evergreen Parkway Shopping Center was panicked, according to authorities, who said additional callers, employees, and shoppers in the shopping center reported that people were evacuating the building, that fire alarms were sounding, and that smoke was becoming heavier and darker.
