Hillsboro puts 4-month pause on building, expanding data centers in the city

It’ll be at least four months before Hillsboro sees another data center development underway.

At a Monday, July 27, special meeting, the Hillsboro City Council unanimously agreed to place a 120-day moratorium on new data center and battery energy storage systems in the city.

Until at least Nov. 24, the city will not accept, process or approve new proposals. The moratorium also extends to proposals to expand existing data centers and battery energy storage systems…
