PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Amid “outrage” from Sherwood community members, the World Forestry Center is now facing a lawsuit as the organization tries to sell its wildlife sanctuary, Magness Memorial Tree Farm.
The World Forestry Center — a non-profit near the Oregon Zoo that advocates for stewardship and sustainable forestry — maintains Magness Memorial Tree Farm, a 64-acre wildlife sanctuary in Sherwood.
In 1977, Magness Memorial Tree Farm was donated to the Oregon Parks Foundation by Howard and Panzy Magness, then transferred to the World Forestry Center.
