Jottings from 5th & G: Sometimes things can be too simple
It was during a dinner with three friends when the subject of poaching eggs entered the conversation. I listened with interest as each had a different, and somewhat complicated, way of doing it. I decided to share the simple method I’ve used for several years: Measure one half cup of water in a two-cup glass measuring cup, break an egg into it and microwave for one minute.
Three stunned faces stared at me, waiting for more instructions. “Remove from the cup with a spoon or fork to drain off water and put on a plate,” I added. Their doubtful expressions told me they were suspicious of anything being this simple and there was a change of subject in the conversation…
