PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland Mayor Keith Wilson has declared a local emergency due to the state of the Centennial Mills building in Northwest Portland.
This comes just days after a fire burned the building, leaving it in pretty bad shape. Fire crews say debris from the fire did test positive for asbestos and lead.
Now, as officials wait for demolition to begin on Friday, many wait to see if the building will collapse on its own before then. The building is being constantly monitored and tracked for any movements in the building to get a better idea on if and when this could collapse…
