Portland police Chief Bob Day responded Tuesday to a city report released last week that found high-level police supervisors failed to hold officers accountable for inappropriate use of force during 2020’s mass protests.
The report resulted in no official rebuke of police leadership after Mayor Keith Wilson and the city’s deputy administrator, Tracy Warren, declined to sustain the allegations. The two officials the report recommended disciplining no longer work in the bureau.
The city’s Independent Review office, made up of civilians, said the two supervisors failed to ensure that use-of-force reports and after-action reports were completed following protests. Such reports help ensure police are meeting their standards and officers are held accountable…
