Portland man hospitalized in fatal Douglas County crash that killed 13-year-old

A Portland man was seriously injured and a 13-year-old boy was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday on Highway 38 in Douglas County, according to Oregon State Police.

The crash happened around 1:38 p.m. Aug. 21 near milepost 27, when a yellow 2021 Ram 2500 pickup towing a 17-foot boat left its eastbound lane, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound 2012 Ford F-350 pickup.

The Ram was driven by 63-year-old Jason Dean Paden of Portland. Paden was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Two passengers in the pickup, including a 14-year-old girl, also suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital…
