After 40 years, one of the Portland area’s oldest ice cream shops is on the brink

The corner shop served countless scoops of ice cream to Portland-area kids under its distinctive blue roof over the past 40 years.

And now it’s on the brink.

The Lake Oswego Ice Creamery and Restaurant, at 37 A Ave., is “facing the tough possibility of closing due to rising costs and declining business,” according to the restaurant’s Facebook page. An online fundraiser set up to “cover past debts,” make updates and keep the shop in employee hands has been paused…
