Eugene sawmill, Molalla recycling center among recent DEQ fines

The Oregon Department of Environmental quality levied 12 penalties in July, totaling $430,292.

Recipients included a glass manufacturing facility that failed to measure visible emissions, automotive fueling stations that failed to perform required tests and inspections and construction projects that failed to implement proper stormwater pollution and erosion controls.

Recipients can appeal their fines by requesting a hearing within 20 days of receiving their penalty letter. DEQ sometimes reduces or eliminates fines after appeals…
