PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An iconic Portland-based actress is returning to horror in a new film.
As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, Cassandra Peterson will lead “R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2.” The 74-year-old actress is best known for her portrayal of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark — a persona she developed in the ‘80s following her career as a showgirl.

The character grew in popularity, starting with Peterson’s role as a horror host for television program “Elvira’s Movie Macabre.” It later spawned feature films “Elvira: Mistress of the Dark” and “Elvira’s Haunted Hills.”
Her new movie is based on legendary “Goosebumps” writer R.L. Stine’s series “The Haunting Hour.” Peterson will portray a “mysterious witch” also named Cassandra, according to Tubi — which will release the horror as part of its “Terror on Tubi” series.
