PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A firefighter died after battling the Austin Fire this week, officials said.
On September 9, a firefighter was engaged in fire suppression efforts for the Austin Fire in the Mt Hood National Forest when he was injured, a U.S. Forest Service spokesperson confirmed to KOIN 6 News.
The firefighter received rapid medical assistance and was taken to the hospital, where they died from their injuries, the official said.
