In early August a BEE reader showed the power a motivated individual can have in bringing an end to a community problem.
The woman was Tess Brown, and she contacted us to report that on July 9th she had been walking her dog in her Mt. Scott/Arleta neighborhood, when an unattended large dog jumped out of an open minivan door and attacked her dog. Her dog died the next day of her extremely serious wounds.
Ms. Brown began an investigation of her own. According to Animal Control records, she told us, this was the fourth attack by this dog – two dogs have died, and two attacks have included injuries to people. Three of the attacks occurred in Southeast Portland…
