PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Even as thousands of Portland-area drivers are bracing for the first Monday morning commute since I-5’s temporary closure began, residents say they’re already seeing the effects on local streets.
The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) completely closed SB I-5 between I-405 and I-84 on Friday, and the section is expected to remain closed for at least five weeks while crews complete construction work in the area.
However, I-5 northbound remains open. For those heading south, ODOT recommends I-405 as a detour.
