Portland man sentenced for killing his fiancée and hiding her body in her car

PORTLAND, Ore. — Jon French was sentenced to 16 and a half years in prison on Monday after pleading guilty to manslaughter and abuse of a corpse for killing his fiancée, Jeannie Enyeart, and hiding her body in her car.

But the emotional proceedings in a Multnomah County courtroom were mainly focused on Enyeart; for more than an hour, her family and friends shared memories of the 47-year-old woman they loved, laughed with and lost nearly three years ago.

The speakers made it clear that no sentence can begin to make up for Enyeart’s absence. Her best friend, Larissa Spellman, remembered the laughter that seemed to follow Jeannie everywhere…
