Fred Meyer accused of negligence after rotisserie chicken warmer burned Oregon customer

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A rotisserie chicken warmer at an Oregon grocer left a customer with “severe burns,” according to a recent lawsuit.

As first reported by The Oregonian/OregonLive, a complaint filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Sept. 10 accuses Fred Meyer of negligence in the accident that injured plaintiff Angela Steffens’ left hand. She is seeking $961,000 in damages.

The incident occurred at the Eugene store on 60 Division Ave. on Sept. 15, 2024, according to the lawsuit. Attorney Liz Walling alleged that Steffen was shopping for a rotisserie chicken when her hand touched the deli warmer, causing her skin to melt into the “dangerously hot metal light fixture.”…
