PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Portland police have identified three officers involved in an in-custody death on Sept. 2, 2026.
Officer Daniel Getchell, Officer Madison Hamilton and Officer Amy Neidiffer responded to the incident of a man stabbing himself inside a home. Officers tried to take him into custody, but said he barricaded himself and refused to come outside.

Officers deployed a stun gun at the scene and took the man into custody. He was taken to the hospital and later died.
