PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – People who frequent Johnson Creek are reporting a “mass die-off” after discovering the bodies of hundreds of dead fish and animals over the weekend.
Bailey Burk-Convery discovered the bodies while out surveying in the creek on Saturday. Days later, the bodies of dead fish and lamprey were still seen among the rocks. It is a sight that Burk-Convery said she has never seen before.
“We got out there and realized that there was just dead stuff everywhere,” she said. “Once a summer we do a big creek-wide cleanup where we’re just literally pulling trash out of (it) and even then like the dirtiest parts where we’re picking trash out of the river. I’ve never seen anything like that.”…
