Motorcyclist Killed at Germantown and Kaiser, Roads Shut West of Forest Park

A motorcycle and a vehicle collided at the rural intersection of NW Germantown Road and NW Kaiser Road west of Forest Park on Tuesday morning, killing at least one person and forcing deputies to shut down several nearby roads. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office announced the crash at about 10:45 a.m., and investigators quickly closed multiple intersections in the area while they worked the scene.

The crash site sits near the Bethany neighborhood, just north of the border between Multnomah and Washington counties, according to KGW. NW Germantown Road is a steep connection between Washington County, Skyline Boulevard, Highway 30, and the St. Johns Bridge, the station reports. As of Tuesday afternoon, KATU reported the crash remained under investigation, with initial reports indicating at least one fatality.

Deputies closed four intersections tied to the crash response: NW Germantown Road at NW Skyline Boulevard, NW Germantown Road at NW 185th Avenue, NW Kaiser Road at NW Brooks Road, and NW Kaiser Road at NW Ridgeline Street, per the KATU report. Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes while the closures remained in effect. The East County Vehicular Crimes Team, the agency’s specialized crash unit, is leading the investigation.

Specialized Crash Team Steps In

The East County Vehicular Crimes Team, or ECVCT, pairs officers from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and Gresham Police Department with dedicated prosecutors from the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, according to the sheriff’s office. The unit typically investigates fatal and serious-injury crashes across Gresham, Fairview, Maywood Park, Troutdale, Wood Village, and unincorporated Multnomah County.
