PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 27-year-old man will spend 100 months in prison after he ran a red light, causing a crash that killed an elderly woman.
Austin Richard Jones was sentenced to just over eight years in prison on Monday after he pleaded guilty last month to criminally negligent homicide, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, two counts of third-degree assault, and driving under the influence of intoxicants.
On August 31, 2025, Jones ran a red light at 50 miles per hour on Southeast Milport Road.
He crashed into an elderly couple, 91-year-old Donald Wesley Brown and 82-year-old Margaret Brown. The couple, Jones, and his passenger, 29-year-old Makayla Jean Keegan, were all injured and taken to Oregon Health and Science University Hospital…
