PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – A nearly century-old community indoor pool will be demolished later this year, Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) announced Tuesday.
The Columbia Indoor Pool, located at 7701 North Chautauqua Boulevard in North Portland, opened in 1930 as an open-air facility. A domed roof was later added in the 1970s.
The facility was temporarily closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, but never reopened.
It was permanently closed in 2022 following a structural engineering inspection – which determined it had structural issues beyond repair…
