It’s been a mild and pleasant Thursday with temperatures hovering in the 60s. Showers & pockets of heavier rain are slowly arriving at the coast this evening. We’re not expecting rain inland until after sunset. Try to finish up outdoor activities (including securing loose objects!) by sunset tonight.
A cold front will bring a brief wave of steady rain from about 9pm to 1am overnight. Lows will be in the 50s.
FIRST ALERT: STRONG WIND FRIDAY MORNING
We’ve been giving you the First Alert about a system that will bring steady rain and strong wind early Friday morning. Starting just before sunrise, southwesterly gusts could reach 30-40 mph inland and 40-50 at the coast. While this isn’t a severe windstorm, it’s our first strong wind event of the season. Make sure to secure loose outdoor objects and plan on a few power outages.
TIMING: After midnight at the coast and after 4am in the valley. The worst of the wind/rain tapers off around Noon.
POTENTIAL IMPACTS: Scattered power outages and downed trees are possible, especially with leaves still on the branches. Wind will be strongest early in the morning, waking a few of us up or causing some difficult conditions during the morning commute. We can’t rule out a few thunderstorms or even a funnel cloud, primarily at the coast.
