A pedestrian died after being hit by a car on S.E. Powell Boulevard on Saturday evening, August 8th, at about 8:45 p.m.
Arriving East Precinct officers found an adult man down in the roadway, critically injured after being struck by a vehicle that was now nowhere to be seen. First responders provided emergency care before the victim was rushed to a local hospital, where he died several hours later from his injuries, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Investigators gained information that a driver in a Jeep had entered the intersection at high speed against a red light, and struck the man who was in the crosswalk. A motorist who had stopped for that stoplight followed the Jeep long enough to record the license plate, then turned back to give information directly to arriving officers at the scene…
