PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Police arrested a man on Sunday they accuse of robbing and stabbing another man leaving Goodwill in Southeast Portland, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.
Shawn Vanoni was walking his bike on the sidewalk on Southeast Powell Boulevard near 92nd Avenue when prosecutors say 42-year-old Serengaw Ham demanded Vanoni’s bike, and a physical fight ensued. During the fight, Ham pulled out a six-inch steak knife. The confrontation ended when Ham stabbed Vanoni on the side of the head and stole the bike.
The knife went through Vanoni’s bike helmet, creating an approximately one-inch puncture wound to the helmet and leaving the victim with a visible wound between his ear and temple…
