OHSU researchers study blood test to detect cancer

PORTLAND, Ore. — Researchers at OHSU’s Knight Cancer Institute are celebrating progress on a multi-cancer early detection blood test.

GRAIL’s Galleri test, as it’s called, can detect up to 50 cancers, leading to a diagnosis that doctors otherwise weren’t screening for.

Currently, only 14 percent of cancers are identified through screenings such as mammograms, colonoscopies and Pap smears. The rest are diagnosed in the U.S. through incidental findings or after patients experience symptoms…
