4 arrested after alleged kidnapping in Vancouver check-cashing scheme

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KATU) — Four men were arrested Wednesday after police said they lured a Portland man into an SUV with a promise to make money, then prevented him from leaving.

Vancouver police responded to the 3500 block of Southeast 164th Avenue after the victim’s wife called 911 to report he had been kidnapped.

Police said four men in a black Chevrolet Suburban approached the victim in Portland and asked if he wanted to make money by cashing a check for them. The victim agreed to get into the SUV but later became concerned for his safety when he was not allowed to leave, police said…
