An Oregon couple has filed a complaint after an incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The couple reportedly followed the federal agents to a supermarket and then shouted that it was ICE. This eventually led to the agents chasing the citizens, and footage also showed ICE allegedly damaging their vehicle.
According to The Mirror, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on behalf of the couple. The complaint reportedly says that the married couple followed agents after they spotted an ICE SUV during their morning drive in Hillsboro, Oregon. This led them to a supermarket where more ICE vehicles were present. As a result, the couple reportedly shouted, “This is ICE! This is ICE!” From their vehicle while blowing whistles and honking multiple times. The couple reportedly took pictures of the ICE vehicles.
After that, the complaint says that one of the agents grabbed a shopping cart and allegedly said, “Let’s block them in with the cart.” Because the couple didn’t want their vehicle hit with a cart, they started driving around the parking lot because they also wanted to record the agents from a “safe distance.” The ICE agent continued to follow them with the shopping cart until two other agents allegedly started approaching the couple’s vehicles “quickly” and then “running” towards them. As a result, the couple decided to leave the scene because they were “frightened.”
The tires of the couple’s car were allegedly stabbed by ICE agents during a chase
As the couple was leaving the parking lot, three ICE vehicles started chasing them. According to the complaint, the vehicles were driven “aggressively” and nearly collided with the couple’s car without having their lights or flashes turned on. During the chase, the couple was concerned for their safety, so they didn’t stop where no bystanders were present. Later, they stopped at a traffic signal, and ICE agents from one of the cars stabbed their rear tire and popped it.
The ACLU also released footage of the traffic-signal incident, captured by cameras on the couple’s car. The ICE vehicles had their lights flashing in the video, and the “Ford Fusion” parked near the couple’s car with two agents, the front passenger and the driver, getting out of it. As both were approaching the vehicle, the couple inched forward, and the agent who was driving the Ford Fusion allegedly stabbed the rear tire with a “black knife.”…
