The woman has been arrested and is facing several charges

A woman in Oregon was arrested for stealing a vehicle carrying two children, who managed to escape and return safely to their parents.

On Monday, Jan. 22, an unnamed man left his vehicle running with his children inside while he went into a business, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). Iosha Dashae Millage hopped into the car and started to drive away.

“The father attempted to stop the theft, but the woman accelerated away from the scene with the two children in the back of the vehicle,” the PPB said in a press release .

The 9-year-old and 11-year-old got out of the vehicle at a stoplight and flagged down a passer-by who called 911.

Shortly after the children escaped, the stolen vehicle was spotted by a Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputy, and after a short pursuit, Millage was taken into custody.

Millage is facing several charges, including driving with a suspended or revoked license, attempting to elude police, reckless driving, and being a fugitive from justice.
