Atmospheric river to impact western U.S. after a wild month of weather

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A weak atmospheric river is starting to take shape over the Pacific Ocean as heavy rain moves towards Oregon and California later this week.

Last week’s cold, snow and ice around Portland is now met with heavy, persistent rain by the end of the week. An already saturated landscape could lead to the threat of urban flooding, additional down trees, and the threat of landslides .

The brunt of the rain is expected to fall over parts of Oregon and California Friday and continues through Saturday. This comes after San Diego’s devastating flooding just this week. Now, parts of The Golden State have to brace for another round of heavy, potentially flooding rain.
