Mt. Hood Senior Living was placed under investigation after an elderly patient wandered away and died
An Oregon nursing home abruptly shut down , giving its residents just hours to be relocated, one month after an elderly patient wandered off the property and died in the woods, according to a report.
Mt. Hood Senior Living was placed under investigation by the Oregon Department of Human Services after 83-year-old Ki Soon Hyun was found dead on Christmas Day. Hyun had heart problems, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, according to local outlet KGW .
Following a compliance survey, the Oregon DHS suspended the facility’s license on Friday because it “[failed] to provide a safe environment for memory care residents in a secure unit,” KATU reported.
In addition to the circumstances surrounding Hyun’s death, the facility was cited for seven other violations , including a lack of sanitary food conditions and a failure to follow patients’ treatment plans.
After the license was revoked, Mt. Hood Senior Living’s dozens of residents were given until midnight to move out, with most of its residents moved to other hospitals and senior living facilities, KATU reported.
