Man, 29, dies after accidentally lighting self on fire: Beaverton PD

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A 29-year-old man has died from his injuries after authorities say he accidentally lit himself on fire in Beaverton Tuesday.

Beaverton Police Department says the man has been identified as Seyedali Seyedhosseini-Mazlaghani and that they believe the incident was accidental as there is no evidence he was the victim of a crime or part of a protest.

A good samaritan who was on the scene and tried to help told KOIN 6 News “there were so many flames that you couldn’t tell that there was an actual body underneath the flames. “

The parents of students who were at a nearby school when this all happened are now speaking out and asking for accountability that something as traumatic as this could unfold in front of children.

According to Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, the incident happened at 1 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Southwest Fifth Street and Hall Boulevard where there was a report of a man on fire in a park.
