Part of a year-long investigation by the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) culminated in the seizure of several guns, drugs, and stolen vehicles –on Wednesday evening, December 20, at a “Tiny House” parked along the northern edge of Reed College on S.E. Steele Street.
The first part of their investigation paid off earlier in year, back on June 5, when East Precinct Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) officers received numerous complaints about drugs being sold out of a home across from Glendoveer Golf Course, in outer Northeast Portland. There, several of PPB’s specialized teams executed a search, and seized 19 firearms, large quantities of ammunition, body armor, methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, a stolen vehicle, and more than $10,000 in cash.
But officers continued to investigate, and on December 20 officers executed search warrants at an unit in Portland Housing Bureau apartments in the Madison South neighborhood – and at a “tiny house” parked on Steele Street near S.E. 30th Avenue. That day, law enforcement personnel seized 12 firearms, methamphetamine, one bag of unknown white pills, one bag of an unknown white powder, and two stolen vehicles – and arrested five people. (Three have been released by a judge, pending trial.)
