2 Gresham officers hurt during domestic violence arrest

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two Gresham officers suffered minor injuries taking a domestic violence suspect into custody Sunday evening.

The domestic assault was called in around 5:30 p.m. When officers got to the scene in the 1700 block of SW Hartley, the suspect, 32-year-old Niko T. Niko, resisted arrest, officials said.

“One of the officer’s injuries was minor,” Gresham PD spokesperson Jarom Sweazey told KOIN 6 News. “The other officer was transported to the hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.”

Niko is now in custody. He was booked for 3 felonies — domestic violence assault and 2 counts of assaulting a police officer — and 2 misdemeanors, resisting arrest and disorderly condut.
