Near-freezing overnight temps return to Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — After enjoying a stretch of spring-like winter weather , Portland sinks back into near-freezing temperatures this week.

KOIN 6 Meteorologist Kelley Bayern forecasts that overnight temperatures will drop to 33 degrees Friday night. More rain will also be possible between Tuesday and Friday. However, drier weather is expected for Saturday and Super Bowl Sunday.

“We’ll see off-and-on rain showers the rest of the week with plenty of dry time in there too,” Bayern said. “Temps will start to cool Wednesday through Friday with highs back in the mid-40s. Overnight lows turn cold with temps near freezing by Friday night.”

Near-freezing temps will also bring lower-elevation snow to the region with snow levels dropping to 1,500 to 2,000 feet of elevation Wednesday night. The Cascade foothills and elevated areas of the Columbia River Gorge and could see a light dusting of snow Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night.
