2023 poll finds negative views on Portland-area, homelessness a top issue for voters

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – The Portland Metro Chamber released its 2023 voter sentiment poll Thursday – tracking voter’s views on the economy, jobs, cost of living, and other community issues impacting the Portland metro, including downtown Portland public safety, and homelessness.

The survey , which was conducted in December 2023 in partnership with the independent firm DHM Research , surveyed 500 registered voters in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties to gauge voter opinions.

Officials reported a margin of error of +/- 4.4% for the entire sample, and +/- 6.2% for the City of Portland sample.

“Conducting these surveys regularly allows us to track voters’ attitudes about their personal financial well-being and the state of the region’s economy. We also identify current voter priorities and gauge support for potential policy solutions,” DHM research President Michelle Neiss said in a statement.
