Stars come out for Portland Jazz Festival

Events associated with the Biamp Portland Jazz Festival will take place in more 30 venues, Feb. 16 to March 2.

Not 3, not 10 — 30.

“We’re spread across the entire city of Portland,” said Christopher Doss, executive director/CEO of the festival and nonprofit PDX Jazz.

“We have a concentration in the downtown area. We’re as far northeast as Alberta Abbey and Alberta Street Pub, and southeast to Aladdin Theater. There are several downtown venues, our ‘ground zero.’ The Portland’5 (halls), The Old Church and Jack London Revue are main ones for us.

“We try to book every venue (at some point). We don’t have our own.”

If Doss sounds proud, he should be. The Portland Jazz Festival continues to grow every year. Along with the annual festival, which features more than 60 events and more than 100 performances in 2024, the nonprofit PDX Jazz stages events throughout the metro area during the year, and now has taken its act to the road with concerts in Seattle and Bend in 2023 (and more scheduled in 2024).
