On Friday, police gave an update about the investigation, saying the two-vehicle crash that caused the car to catch fire was the result of street racing. The car that burned, inside which the two teens were found dead, was driven by another person who did not die but was taken to the hospital for serious injuries.

Sgt. Kevin Allen, a PPB spokesperson, told KOIN 6 News he found the teens’ deaths to be “heartbreaking.” When it comes to street racing, he encouraged others to “Think twice before they involve themselves in this — it’s not fun and games. It’s dangerous, and people are dying.”
