When Amazon’s giant warehouse in Woodburn off I-5 could open

The long-awaited Amazon warehouse in Woodburn won’t open until 2025, according to the company.

Amazon spokesperson Leigh Anne Gullett did not give a reason why the opening has been delayed.

Amazon has been reticent to give a date of when one of the company’s largest warehouses in the country would open.

The project, now called Amazon PDX8, was originally scheduled to open in 2023. City officials said they were most recently told by Amazon officials that it would open this fall.

The five-story, 105-feet high warehouse is the largest building by square footage in the state at 3.8 million . Located at 450 S Butteville Road, it is visible from Interstate 5.

Construction on the site started in 2021, shortly after Woodburn’s planning commission approved it . At that time, Amazon officials told the city the warehouse was initially supposed to open by late 2023.

Woodburn Mayor Frank Lonergan said the last time city officials met with representatives from Amazon in June they were told the company would bring in an administrative team in July.
