MultCo Library wins slot in North American library design showcase

Multnomah County Library’s Operation Center has been name as one of the featured locations in American Libraries’ 2024 Library Design Showcase.

The annual celebration new and renovated library building throughout North America is an opportunity to show how recently opened library facilities are constantly progressing to grow and meet the needs of communities.

Located at 221 N.E. 122nd Ave., Portland, the Operations Center opened in January 2024 and is the first real estate acquisition and first project to break ground.

It’s home to new books and materials coming into the library system, where many items placed on hold are sorted and transferred and where special materials for outreach are centered.

“Having Multnomah County Library’s Operations Center chosen as part of American Libraries’ 2024 Design Showcase is an incredible honor,” said Annie Lewis, Interim Director of Libraries, in a statement. “It’s also recognition that Multnomah County Library patrons are better served by receiving their materials faster and bolstering the outreach services that are vital to the community.”
