‘Not something normal’: Woman speaks after father shot outside Islamic School of Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A woman is speaking up after her father was shot in a parking lot just behind the Islamic School of Portland, prompting a large police response Thursday afternoon.

Portland police say the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Noureddine Dib, went into the school following the shooting. He later came out, before being taken into custody without incident.

Amineh Zakarneh, the daughter of the man who was shot, headed over to the school after her younger brother called her to say their dad hadn’t picked them up.

“My brother called me, he says, ‘Dad’s car is there, but I don’t see him’ and immediately I knew something was wrong. And, I remember getting there. The road was blocked off. I couldn’t even get to the school and I was freaking out.”

But now, she said her father is currently resting at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
