Woman hospitalized after hit, run in Hazelwood neighborhood

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A woman was hospitalized early Thursday morning after a hit-and-run in Southeast Portland, authorities said.

According to Portland police, just before 1:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of an injured woman on Southeast Stark Street.

When officers arrived, they said they found the woman in the street and she was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials said that their preliminary investigation showed that the woman had been “clinging to the outside of a moving vehicle,” when she fell off and was then run over. The driver of the car didn’t remain at the scene.

The scene is still under investigation and authorities said that Southeast Stark Street will be closed from Southeast 99th Avenue to Southeast 100th Avenue while the Major Crash Team responds.
