Mt. Hood Community College Theatre Department to stage public show of ‘Stone Soup’

Once upon a time a small town experienced a famine.

Folks were hungry and angry — dare we say they were hangry.

Find out what happens when a wanderer arrives and offers to make a delicious soup with just a single stone.

Mt. Hood Community College Theatre Department’s next show will be a production of Alisha Christiansen’s new play, “Stone Soup: An Old Tale for All Times,” for the Theatre for Young Audiences slot.

Christiansen wrote the play specifically for the Saints’ “Season of Sisyphus.”

“As a great lover of soup, community, and ancient Greek myths, this one is a celebration of some of my favorite things,” Christiansen said. “I’m hopeful that the students from various area schools who come to see it on their field trips will enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed writing it.”

There will be one public performance of the show at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the college, 26000 S.E. Stark St. Tickets are $3.
