A person was arrested on Wednesday after speeding along I-205 and ultimately becoming involved in a car crash.
According to a social media post by the Wilsonville Police Department, Jeannie McCauley, a 35-year-old from Aumsville, was charged with attempting to elude a police officer, recklessly endangering, reckless driving and multiple counts of second-degree criminal mischief. The arrest came after she was involved in an accident on the I-5 Boone Bridge.
McCauley’s vehicle, a Chevrolet Silverado truck, was reportedly seen speeding along southbound I-205 where it struck another vehicle prior to the accident. The social media post said a Wilsonville police sergeant noticed the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on I-205 in Clackamas, and the Silverado “recklessly crossed over multiple lanes to maneuver around other vehicles” after passing the marked Wilsonville patrol vehicle.
The driver did not stop when the sergeant attempted to stop the Silverado, and the sergeant did not pursue the truck due to safety concerns from heavy traffic. Soon after, police dispatch received a report that a pickup truck, believed to be the same Silverado the sergeant encountered, had struck another vehicle on I-205 southbound and continued driving.
