Officers arrived at the scene to find that Davis “suffered significant traumatic injuries” and died at the scene.

During the investigation, authorities learned that after Davis walked onto the tracks, the train operator sounded the horn and tried to stop the train using the emergency brake system, however, the train didn’t stop in time and struck Davis.

Authorities said it is not clear why Davis was on the tracks, noting he did not use a pedestrian crossing.
