The cannabis strain “Gary Payton Flower” was recalled Monday due to traces of pesticides, according to the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission.
The strain was sold at Power Plant dispensary locations in Salem and Portland and Thurman Street Collective in Portland, OLCC spokesperson Matthew Van Sickle said in an email.
The batch was recalled after testing positive for imidacloprid, an insecticide that mimics nicotine to control insects, fleas and termites.
Imidacloprid disrupts the nerve’s ability to send signals, and interrupts the nervous system from working properly, according to the National Pesticide Information Center .
People who have been exposed to the pesticide have reported vomiting, confusion, breathlessness and more.
There have not been any reported health-related complaints, Van Sickle said.
People who have purchased the product are encouraged to throw it out. There are around 3 pounds still in the market.
People experiencing health concerns can call the Oregon Poison Center or a medical provider.
